Am I Morbidly Obese?
Answering this question may give you the information you need and the courage required to take the first step to healthier life. There are several medically accepted criteria for defining morbid obesity. You are likely morbidly obese if you meet one or more of these qualifications:

  • You are more than 100 lbs. over your ideal body weight
  • You have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of over 40
  • You have a BMI of over 35 and are experiencing severe negative health effects, such as high blood pressure or diabetes related to obesity
  • You are unable to achieve a healthy body weight for a sustained period of time, even through medically supervised dieting

To use the BMI Calculator, select your gender, height and weight. The tool will automatically calculate an approximate BMI. Please understand that these are approximate values and are intended to be used only as a rough guide and are not a substitute for a medical evaluation.

If you cannot see the red sliders on the tool above, you need to install Java. You can do that by clicking here.
