Aquatic Therapy

Services > Comprehensive Rehab Services > Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy can help you control body movements in ways that are not possible on land. We provide one-on-one therapy, group therapy and open swim time.

Specially Designed for Aquatic Therapy
Our aquatic pool is specially designed for therapeutic purposes. Our 18 ft. x 24 ft. pool is heated between 92-96 degrees — enabling the water’s buoyancy to reduce the stress on joints and ease discomfort during exercise. This helps you realize improved physical function, muscle tone, balance and cardiovascular performance. The pool also features a flat floor divided into depths of 3 ft., 4 ft. and 5 ft., so patients of varying heights can exercise comfortably. It also has a hydraulic lift to provide easy access to individuals of all abilities.

Aquatic therapy and exercise provides the following benefits:

  • Decreases weight-bearing stress on joints during exercise.
  • Increases strength and flexibility.
  • Promotes cardiovascular and muscular endurance.
  • Improves balance.
  • Promotes deep breathing.
  • Increases circulation.
  • Encourages relaxation.
  • Promotes healing.

At Salt Lake Regional, our physical therapy team may combine aquatic therapy with other traditional therapeutic techniques to help you achieve your goals.

Group and Private Aquatic Exercise Programs
Incorporating exercise and physical activities into your weekly routine can help you enjoy a healthier, more independent lifestyle. Routine exercise has proven to reduce blood pressure, reduce body fat, preserve muscles, improve mental well-being as well as prevent/control chronic diseases — such as heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. Exercising in water provides additional benefits, including:

  • Reduces stress and swelling on weight-bearing joints.
  • Increases flexibility and range of motion.
  • Improves blood circulation and cardiovascular endurance.
  • Strengthens muscles and balance through resistance.

At Salt Lake Regional, we offer a wide variety of group and private, one-on-one aquatic exercise programs for nearby residents. Our pool is heated year-round, between 92 and 96 degrees, for your comfort. Our pool is also available for your general enjoyment and relaxation. Pool hours for aquatic exercise classes and open swim are:

  • Monday - 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday - 10 a.m. to noon
  • Wednesday - 8 a.m. to noon
  • Thursday - 10 a.m. to noon
  • Friday - 8 a.m. to noon

Socialize and have fun while improving your health and well-being with Salt Lake Regional’s aquatic exercise programs.
