Real Salt Lake’s Javier Morales Undergoes Successful
Surgery at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center

SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake midfielder Javier Morales underwent successful surgery at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center Monday to repair a serious leg fracture and ankle dislocation suffered in Saturday’s Major League Soccer game with Chivas USA.
“The surgery went well, with no surprises,” said Dr. Andrew Cooper, the orthopedic surgeon who performed the surgery. “This is an injury that Javi can definitely recover from, and his positive attitude will help it happen. In fact, Javi looks at this as a challenge and joked that he wants to set the record for recovery.”
This is not Morales’ first injury that has required surgery. Dr. Cooper, who is on the medical staff at SportsMed Utah and Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, has also operated on Morales’ knee and shoulder.
“Javi has always come back from injuries and able to compete at an all-star level, so I expect great things from him this time around,” Dr. Cooper said.
